Borah Peak, Idaho, 12,662 feet. August 18, 2007 – a day to go down in history. It was the day I tackled and conquered the highest peak in Idaho. And it was also the toughest day of my life.
6:30 am Saturday morning – four of us head out of camp with the goal of conquering Mt. Borah.
12 PM – Three of us make it to the summit after 5.5 hours on the trail. The last hour was the toughest in my life as I came down with Attitude Sickness. I had a horrible headache and I got dizzy every time I looked up. By all counts, I should have turned back, but I didn’t – I wanted to reach the summit. Keeping my eyes on the ground, I plugged away one step at a time. It took every ounce of energy, willpower, and strength to do it…. Yet, by the grace of God, I did it!
[@more@]6:00 pm – I reach the base camp after six grueling hours trekking down the mountain. My left knee gave out once again after the constant bombardment of hiking up and then down the mountain. Luckily, Em made me wear a knee brace and use trekking poles (which are awesome, by the way), so it wasn’t has bad has it could have been.
It was a once-in-a-life journey – one that I’m glad I made. But I’m NOT going back!!! EVER!!!

that sounds like fun.
guess you didn’t fall very far from the tree. guts are good, but wisdom is priceless.
